Green Flag For Biodiversity
On Tuesday 14th May, Ms Buckley, Brona, Jack and Kelly went to Cork to collect our fifth green flag. We have spent the past two years studying biodiversity and applied our new knowledge in order to gain the flag. We accomplished a lot in this time, our school now has a bug hotel, bird feeders and a newly installed polytunnel .
Polytunnel: Each classroom has been assigned raised beds to plant in. Our group has planted corn, cherry tomatoes and cabbage. Bona and Grace have been given the job of watering the plants.
Wildflower Area: Part of our outdoor area has been designated as a wildflower section, this means that we don't cut the grass in order to allow wildflowers to grow.
We were delighted to receive the award from An Taisce and we are looking forward to flying the flag outside the school.
